As our Wealth Administrative Associate, Stephanie Jenkins leapt into Eastport with, as she describes, a ‘certain kind of brain’. She sets up accounts, guides you and team members through the right protocols and paperwork to support your wealth strategy, and makes trades to bring your investment portfolio into balance with your risk portfolio. In her daily work, attention to detail is everything.
“We’re so tightly regulated, and on timelines,” she says. “As a team, it’s our good connections and communication that keep us on top of our game. Everything we do has to be compliant, and that can’t slip. It has to be done right.”
Jenkins describes her love for numbers and detail as an almost mechanical aptitude to break things down and piece it back together. The arena of trading may seem like a plane’s console to some—complex and indecipherable—but like a pilot, numbers are a first language for her.
“Anything can be taught,” she adds. “But the heart has to be in the right place.”
Born into a ministry family—her father was a pastor, as was her husband, and she’d done some college training—Jenkins also took on the role of Eastport’s chaplain.
“We can’t help but become involved in our clients’ lives,” she says. “When we’re coming alongside to help plan for your family’s future and legacy, it’s a very personal and sometimes emotional moment. When crises unfold, financial shaky ground tends to follow. I’ve been able to offer hope to people who’ve lost spouses, as I did, or who are in uncertain times. I’ve been able to counsel clients as well as the team, always to remind people that they’re not in life alone.”
Jenkins calls her roles at Eastport an interesting blend of ‘financial administrator plus heart-guide’—which is the kind of place Eastport happens to be.
