Ryan Wall is the one who does the math.
Where others see an impenetrable wall of policy projections, tax-code cross-references, and actuarial tables, Ryan sees a puzzle to be solved. He believes complexity is where clients are most vulnerable: the fine print of a life insurance structure can quietly cost a family or business owner a fortune, and the best protection is someone capable of understanding all of the numbers, not merely the convenient ones.
Ryan brings three of the most demanding professional designations in actuarial science and finance, together with a programmer’s instinct for automation, to the valuation and structuring of complex insurance and wealth-planning arrangements. His work helps ensure that when wealth is valued, structured, transferred, or moved across a border, the underlying analysis is rigorous, defensible, and complete.
Ryan is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and a CFA charterholder. His affinity for mathematics emerged early: before earning his BSc in Actuarial Science, he won the Alberta High School Mathematics Competition.
He is the founder and Chief Actuary of Aeternus Actuarial, through which he has completed fair market value analyses involving more than $2 billion of life insurance policies for clients across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East. He previously served as Vice President and Actuary at GBL Consulting, where he and his team implemented more than 500 Retirement Compensation Arrangements and 2,500 Individual Pension Plans.
Ryan’s insurance expertise includes shared-ownership critical illness arrangements, shared-ownership life insurance, RCA insurance structures, life insurance fair market valuations, and cross-border compliance testing—including U.S. Internal Revenue Code §§7702 and 7702A and the Canadian exempt test. This is the actuarial deep water: highly technical work in which seemingly minor assumptions can have significant tax and financial consequences.
Outside the office, Ryan is a student of the poker table, a practitioner of low-and-slow barbecue, an avid traveller, an oenophile (WSET 3), and a volunteer astronomer.
He lives in Calgary with Loredana and their three future mathematicians: Leonardo, Erica, and Anthony (not Tony).
