Inspired by his wife Meghan who successfully operates her own business as well as his own longstanding passion for finance, he joined Eastport to start a new chapter in his working life.
“Thanks to my academic background, I’ve got the heart of a teacher—but my life experience has shown me people don’t want to be ‘taught’,” he explains. “They need someone to join them in their own learning. It’s an entirely different mindset.”
As a financial advisor, Nicholas is a meticulous planner. In his work, which is highly numbers-driven and client-focused, he balances the quantitative side by building collaborative relationships with his clients. He joined Eastport to work with like-minded people with an entrepreneurial spirit, but who also put family first. As a dedicated father to his son Gabriel and daughter Isabella, this balance roots in his own home.
“The work we do extends through generations of families,” he says. “We have the privilege of helping grow our client’s assets, and then doing more to provide security and legacy. That’s why Eastport was such a fit for me. It’s all about connection. Everyone on our team is drawn to people who empathize and care, and who truly live out their values and beliefs for the betterment of others.”
In a highly unsettled world, a calm demeanor is as important as a steady hand with investments. Down’s attitude is that of ‘a heart with ears’, with constantly active listening and discernment.
“We observe, analyze, and measure the markets so we can give people options despite the disarray of the world,” he explains. “People with a good heart will take care of you, and people who are competent will do it well. In tough economic times, it’s more vital than ever that Eastport is that kind of place.”
