FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
As Eastport’s new Controller, Lynda MacDonald oversees some of the most important systems that help Eastport and the Jonathan Lewis Foundation function with efficiency. For a Controller, attention to detail is everything, and Lynda’s path to the role was a career and family experience oriented around high organization and process and system design.
Trained as a speech pathologist and then homeschooling her children for a number of years, Lynda began bookkeeping for her husband’s ministry. As a pastor, he and the family have supported a twenty-year mission of supporting church plants—and Lynda’s contribution became a full-time endeavour, coordinating the countless moving parts of complex projects.
“It’s all about repeatable routines,” she says. “From there I started working as a bookkeeper for various different firms, and in the past five years the responsibility and learning really escalated.”
After connecting with Eastport’s Lisa King at church, Lynda joined Eastport on a contract basis, then permanantly in April of 2026, working hand-in-hand with Eastport’s former Controller and taking on more critical accounting tasks of Eastport’s growing mandate.
“Eastport is such a strong community,” she adds. “Everybody is on the same trajectory. We all share the same integrity and values, and it really shows. It’s more of a mission than just a business.”
